Indie Book Awards Shortlist

Indie Book Awards Shortlist

25 January 2012

Hachette Australia is very proud to have two titles shortlisted for this year’s Indie Awards.

Congratulations to Favel Parrett for being shortlisted for her stunning ‘Past The Shallows’ in the debut fiction category and also to William McInnes who was shortlisted in the non-fiction category for ‘Worse Things Happen At Sea’, which he wrote with his wife Sarah Watt, who sadly died last November.

’‘It’s always nice to be nominated for an award but doubly so when it comes from a body who’s business is also it’s love – books and reading. Independent booksellers help spread the joy and richness of the written word and in the National Year of Reading 2012 they play an incredibly important role.’ – William McInnes

Independent booksellers give me great hope that stories like mine can be published and sell well. I know the future of Australian books is in good hands if we keep supporting our independents.” – Favel Parrett

The Indie Awards are chosen by Australian independent booksellers to recognise the best in Australian writing. The sixteen shortlisted titles will all be in the running for the overall ‘Indie Book Of The Year’.

The winners of the Indie Awards will be announced March 10th at a Gala Dinner.
