‘The Swedish author Mons Kallentoft has created a chilling police procedural with a whole lot of fierceness; cold and evil. Malin Fors is a young female police officer living in Linkoping, Sweden. She is a single mother to one daughter, Tove. A nude and tortured fat man (Borg Bengt Anderson) is found hanging in a tree in February and this “Midwinter Sacrifice” or ritual killing weaves a web of suspicion between the dead man’s social worker and a bunch of feral bullies called the Murvall brothers.
