The Windup Girl
Set in a dystopian future that could very well be our own, The Windup Girl is a mesmerising tale of a time when calories are currency and evil corporations will do anything to exploit them. It is very rare for a SF novel to win so many of the top SF awards (including the Hugo and the Nebula) and it is equally rare for a genre novel to transcend its place and become a great novel for readers of all tastes. The Windup Girl achieved both. I urge everyone to read this important, masterly piece of brilliant fiction.
