Seeking Refuge: Ali's Story - A Journey from Afghanistan

Real life testimonies of young people feeling their homelands. Originally made as a series of animated films by the BBC, these books explore the experiences of young people whose lives are affected by conflict in their home countries.

This is the story of ten year old Ali from Afghanistan who fled his homeland during the war. He travelled with his grandmother leaving behind his parents who were unable to get a visa. Whilst seeking asylum, he talks of his pain of being separated from them. Although now back in touch, they are unable to be united, and Ali describes his hopes of seeing them again in the future.

Narrated by Ali, we see the devastation that war can have on children and families. Ali doesn't understand what the conflict is about or why he has to be separated from his parents.
