Bernard Ingham

Sir Bernard Ingham was a journalist for 18 years, and has worked for both the Guardian and the Yorkshire Post. He is a former head of the Government Information Service, and was chief press secretary to Margaret Thatcher, staying with her for more than 11 years until her resignation and his formal retirement in 1990. Since then he has had a varied career as an author, journalist, broadcaster, businessman, pressure group organiser and public affairs consultant.
