David Lindsay

David Lindsay (1878-1945) was born in London and, although he won a scholarship to university, he was forced to go into business and became an insurance clerk at Lloyd's. At the age of forty, he was offered a directorship. Instead of accepting, he moved to Cornwall with his new wife and became a full-time writer, publishing A Voyage to Arcturus in 1920. It was not a success and he spent the rest of his life struggling for recognition.
