I was a big fan of Viet Thanh Nguyen’s The Sympathizer, and also loved our own short story collection Foreign Soil, so The Refugees really appeals to me. I love reading stories about perspectives that are not my own – the human experience is diverse, frightening and intriguing – and I hope this collection opens my eyes even more to this wide big world.
