Peter Elstob

Peter Elstob ( 1915 - 2002) was born in London but attended school in the United States. He studied briefly in Michigan before a short stint in the RAF and as a volunteer in the Spanish Civil War. On the outbreak of the Second World War he volunteered for the army and joined the 3rd Battalion, Royal Tank Regiment- Warriors for the Working Day is the fictionalised account of his time in a tank crew during the liberation of north-west Europe. After the war Elstob pursued several ventures, wrote many books and was by all accounts a colourful character. He died in 2002.
