Born in Greenwich, London, Steve Brooker always felt drawn to the Thames and all the activities on it. His first inkiling that he might be badly bitten by the 'finding' bug was when he spent his pocket money on a 10 metal detector. Fitting his passion around various jobs as a hairdresser, window fitter and professional skateboarder, he also started to explore the banks of the Thames as a 'mudlark' which led to him writing MudMen, the History Channel programme showing him mudlarking for finds all over England and Europe. In 2015 he will open the Museum of the Thames in Greenwich, as museum director.
