Well-loved and respected worldwide for his charisma as well as for being one of the most successful golfers of his generation, Darren Clarke's 2006 Ryder Cup successes, following shortly after his wife Heather's tragic death from cancer, cemented his place in our hearts. And then, against all the odds, Darren won the 2011 Open at the age of 42.
Darren Clarke's career began a long way from the glamour of the major tournaments, when he worked as a caddie for his father. Since then he has enjoyed a brilliant career, playing in five Ryder Cup tournaments for the European team, four of which were on the winning side.
