Tony Binns

Tony Binns is Senior Lecturer in Geography in the School of African and Asian Studies at the University of Sussex, a post he has held for 25 years. He has taught and researched in several African countries and has published widely on African development issues. He has travelled and worked in most African countries and is currently based at Rhodes University, Grahamstown, South Africa, where he has a Leverhulme Study Abroad Fellowship researching into aspects of local and community-based development. He has authored or co-authored 14 books and has written over 60 academic papers. 'Journey Through Africa' was highly commended in the Geographical Association's 1998 Awards.
