Following their spoors, the ape-man came upon the lost Valley of the Sepulcher, where Knights Templar still fought to resume their Holy Crusade to free Jerusalem.

Edgar Rice Burroughs (1875 - 1950) was born in Chicago, the son of a Civil War veteran. A prolific writer for the early pulp magazines, he is best remembered as the creator of Tarzan and for his Martian tales featuring John Carter.
