Katharine Birbalsingh

Katharine Birbalsingh is the founder and headmistress of Michaela Community School in Brent, widely regarded as one of the most successful and most controversial state schools in Britain. In 2022, 2023 and 2024 the school was the highest ranked English state secondary school, outperforming numerous major private schools despite its ethnic minority inner city intake. Katherine has taught in inner city London schools for her whole career.

Katharine has served as Chair of the Social Mobility Commission and was awarded a CBE for services to education. She has written extensively in newspapers and appeared on countless podcasts, including The Jordan Peterson Podcast, The Rubin Report and Triggernometry. She polarises opinion across the Right and Left and she is shocked by the rise in racism among the Right over the last 10 years. Katharine has been told 'to go home' because of her passionate insistence that the children at Michaela, and millions of other students of immigrant origin, can absolutely be British. This book is an extension of that fight.
