Book Cub Questions for The Frock Shop

Tuesday 1 September 2026

We hope these questions help guide your group's discussion for this charming book. We’ve done our best to avoid spoilers, but don’t read these questions unless you’ve finished The Frock Shop – you don’t want to risk ruining any surprises!

  1. Have you read any other books by Sophie Green? If so, how was it similar or different to The Frock Shop?
  2. Did you find the title and cover particularly evocative?
  3. What did you think of the vignettes about the items of clothing at the start of each chapter? Did these stories affect your reading experience, and if so, how?
  4. Which genre/s would you describe The Frock Shop as? What novels would you compare it to? Delve into genre specifics if applicable.
  5. Did you find Sophie Green’s depiction of the setting authentic? Is the setting similar or different to any places you’ve visited or lived in?
  6. Some of the novel’s core themes are friendship, personal relationships and growth, nostalgia, clothing and thrifting. Elaborate on these themes, and do you think the book conveyed them well? If so, how?
  7. Use a quote from the book as a discussion catalyst.
  8. How do each of the women grow and change as a result of the events in the novel? Did your opinion of them change as the book progressed?
  9. Did you see any of the book’s twists and turns coming? Did any revelation surprise you more than the others?
  10. What did you think of the ending? Did it surprise you? Did you feel everything was resolved? What might the future look like for Daphne, Christina, Lucy, Adelaide and Margot?
