We chat with Lyla Sage, author of the swoonworthy Rebel Blue Ranch series. Swift and Saddled is coming 12 March 2024.
Hi Lyla! Thanks for answering some questions for us. How does it feel to have your books out in the world?
It feels surreal! I still can’t believe that I get to write these books and that people are excited to read them. This feeling never gets old. I am so attached to Swift and Saddled, and I’m unbelievably excited for it to be out in the world.
Swift and Saddled is the second book in the Rebel Blue Ranch series, following Done and Dusted. What can readers expect from this book?
Swift and Saddled follows Weston Ryder - one of Emmy’s older brothers. He’s finally got a chance at chasing his dream: renovating one of the older houses at Rebel Blue into a guest ranch. You’ll also meet Ada Hart, the interior designer for the project and a newcomer to Rebel Blue. Sparks fly almost immediately between these two, and their story comes with healing, humor, and a sweet and slow burn.

Shameless by Garth Brooks! It’s one of my favorite love songs, and it fits the vibes of Rebel Blue Ranch and all of its couples so perfectly.

What was your favourite part about writing Swift & Saddled?
My favorite part of writing Swift and Saddled was getting to write from Ada’s point of view! Ada is smart and fervent and funny. It was a joy to write from the perspective of a character who was new to Rebel Blue because I got to see my favorite characters from Done and Dusted through a new set of eyes.
Will we see Emmy and Brooks again?
Of course! Emmy and Brooks have such a special place in my heart and at Rebel Blue Ranch. I hope readers love getting glimpses of their life together.
Just how much spice can we expect in your newest book?
I think all of my books pack just the right amount of heat. I love writing spice and steam where it fits in the story and pushes the characters and their relationship forward. I tend to write slower burns, so there’s lots of delicious tension that builds as we lead into the spice. In Swift and Saddled, you can definitely expect a nice slower burn, a few solid spicy scenes, and lots of tension.
