Pierre Benoit (1886-1962)
Ferdinand Marie Pierre Benoit was a French poet and author. He spent his early years and military service in Northern Africa before becoming a civil servant. His first novel, Koenigsmark, was published in 1918 with the more well-known L'Atlantide following the next year; L'Atlantide was awarded the Grand Prize of the Academie fran aise. He died in 1962 in Ciboure.
