Tibor Fischer

The son of Hungarian refugees, Tibor Fischer was born in Stockport in 1959 and lives in Brixton. His first novel, Under the Frog (Polygon Books; 1992) was shortlisted for the Booker Prize in 1993. He is the author of four other novels, The Thought Gang (Polygon Books; 1994), The Collector Collector (Secker & Warburg; 1997) both in late stage development as feature films, Voyage to the End of the Room (Chatto & Windus; 2003) and Good to be God (Alma; 2008) which is being developed as a TV series by Keshet, as well as two collections of short stories Don't Read This Book If You're Stupid (Secker & Warburg; 2000) and Crushed Mexican Spiders (Unbound; 2011).

A Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature, his work has been published in twenty-five languages and described as 'the best thinking person's entertainer since Iris Murdoch'.
