Hooky Hefferman is commanded to spend his forty-first birthday with his aunt, the formidable Theresa Page-Foley. While there, the occasional private eye is directed to look into the affairs of the devastatingly beautiful Lois Girling, who appears to have walked off with a piece his aunt's jewellery, given to her by a maharajah in the days of the Raj.
