Book Week is approaching. Are you struggling for costume ideas for the kids? We’ve got you covered.

Like Christmas for booklovers … It’s Book Week time again! Or is the looming idea of having to help with your kids’ costumes filling you with dread? Fear not! We’re here to help.

‘Find your treasure’ is the theme of this year’s CBCA book week. We love treasure! What’s not to love about the idea of unearthing an ancient chest overflowing with gold doubloons, rubies, jewel-encrusted crowns or emerald rings? I mean, unlikely but still it’s a nice idea.

But there are other kinds of treasure, too.
Stories can be a kind of treasure, especially when they’re shared. Reading to your kids at bedtime and getting to pick an old favourite, or maybe you’ve found a new story you’ll experience for the first time together. Surely, it’s a precious moment knowing you’re helping to create fond moments they will look back on.

Okay, is this getting too cheesy? Time for costume ideas!

Marketing and Publicity Coordinator in the colourful world of kids and YA books at Hachette Australia. I’m still trying to find a way to live inside picture book illustrations. I like robots (the ones that don’t decide human life is expendable), thinking about the outer solar system, rainy days at home, reading on the bus and cooked breakfasts with tea that is appropriately hot. Jessica Townsend once called me a scholar and a prince.
