Hachette Memories of Lost & Found

Thursday 18 June 2026

‘One of the biggest ever debut author tours on record, with our tour plans much copied by other houses and Brooke charmed just everyone.’ Louise Stark, CEO

'I remember when I was first handed the manuscript for Lost & Found by one of our account managers. They knew Brooke as a bookseller and as a friend, and so I was very lucky that they shared it with me. I read it over a weekend and could not put the pages down. I laughed and cried and felt wiser when I finished reading. I was in awe of Brooke’s talent and the way she could take a simple, everyday moment and imbue it with such profound insight into the human condition. I fell instantly in love with Millie and Agatha and Karl the Touch Typist. I remember sitting quietly when I finished because I knew I had just read something very special. It is an incredible novel that manages to explore grief and loneliness and sex with truth and humour. I immediately sent a message to the person who shared the manuscript with me and said we had to publish this book!!!!!!!! I used lots of exclamation points. And when I was lucky enough to meet this brilliant writer in person, I used even more exclamation points. What a gift it is when your job allows you to work with magnificent, talented, inspiring people. Brooke Davis is one of those people.'

Vanessa Radnidge, Head of Non-Fiction & Literary/Publisher of Lost & Found

‘I was searching my documents for any review that I may have written at the time but instead came across my very concise sales points! Enough said 😊 Hugely exciting debut; local - hailed as the next Jasper Jones - very touching story - a bit “Little Miss Sunshine” - expecting huge international impact… proofs… multimedia… window offer… minimum 20 copies please.’

Linda Bruce, Account Manager

‘At the time I was working for another publisher but all the AM’s in WA knew Brooke from her time behind the counter at Beaufort St Books. I attended the launch, and it was standing room only! Such an amazing evening with Todd who was the AM at the time making a short video of with his daughter in those famous red boots.  So cute!’

Nicky Delaney, Account Manager

‘I was working at another publisher when Lost & Found was published and I remember being struck not only by the brilliant campaign, but by how much love and passion was poured into the book. Then when I read it, I could see why.’

Alysha Farry, Marketing and Publicity Director

‘I was working at Canberra bookstore Paperchain at the time, and would always google image search an author before their event so I knew who I was looking for. The Paperchain counter is a little high (if you know you know) and when I looked up from the computer, who was standing there but Brooke herself? I told her the story, which led to one of my favourite inscriptions in any book I own.’

Bethany Nevile, Campaign Manager
