An SF Gateway eBook: bringing the classics to the future.

Stranded on a strange planet with a race of alien vampires!

Red O'Reilly, the hero, is among three prisoners being transported by car with a guard and a social worker on a rainy night in contemporary California. Suddenly, in a flash, the car is off the road and into the middle of a jungle - which disappears as the rain ceases, leaving them stranded in a trackless desert!

After a trek across the desert, evidently on an alien planet far from earth, they discover a strange, ruined city inhabited by a race of vampire aliens - whom they must battle for survival.

Richard A. Lupoff

Richard A Lupoff (1935-2020)
Richard Allen Lupoff was born in New York in 1935. In common with many of his contemporaries, he entered science fiction as a fan - indeed, his fanzine Xero featured a stellar list of contributors including James Blish, Lin Carter, Avram Davidson, L. Sprague de Camp, Harlan Ellison and Frederik Pohl, and won a Hugo Award for best amateur publication. He was the author of some two dozen novels and over one hundred short stories across the fields of SF, mystery, humour, and satire, as well as a great deal of genre-related non-fiction. He edited numerous SF and Fantasy anthologies and was an expert on the writing of Edgar Rice Burroughs. He died in 2020.
