An hilarous account of rural life on an English country estate.
Rumshott is one of the finest landed estates in England. However, when James Aden takes up the position of Deputy Agent he does not realise the full extent of what the job entails.
He finds himself spending his days negotiating with royalty, farmers, and even wildlife, as well as the imperious Lady Leghorn. In order to survive, James must come to terms with his role quickly, and not let himself get too distracted by Sophie, the pre-college assistant.
Rory Clark qualified as a land agent after studying at the Royal Agricultural College. He worked on the Badminton Estate in Gloucestershire and the Althorp Estate in Northamptonshire. Following some years in Suffolk he is now a partner in a firm of chartered surveyors in Derbyshire and lives on the southern edge of the Peak District.
His books are based on the wide variety of people he has met during his professional life as a land agent. His interest in people and their personalities combined with a love of traditional country life are the inspirations for his writing.
