How to love food and lose weight.
Si King and Dave Myers, aka The Hairy Bikers, are back with a brand new mission. They're searching for healthy, delicious recipes created by ordinary members of the public, with the aim to persuade Britain to lose weight without losing their love of food. This beautifully photographed cookbook will tie-in with the new series on BBC2 which will kick-start with the Bikers' personal mission to shed some pounds with the help of the Great British public and showcase their brand new identity: The Hairy Dieters.
On the back of the success of their MUMS KNOW BEST tour, the Bikers will gather together members of the general public in their quest for healthy eating. Their 'Big Eaters' - the northern lads and lasses they selected to trim their waistline, will be the Bikers' fellow travellers and 'control group'. By testing out recipes and keep-fit tips, the people that Si and Dave meet on the way will follow them on their dieting quest.
Including a healthy eating plan with mouth-watering recipes for eating at home, eating out and of course, entertaining, this cookbook is filled with all of the dishes that have made Si King and Dave Myers two of the nation's favourite cooks. From perfect pies, curries and roast dinners, the Hairy Dieters prove that cooking without the calories doesn't have to compromise on taste.
With their unique blend of tasty recipes, cheeky humour and irresistible enthusiasm, the Hairy Bikers have become Britain's favourite food heroes.
Born and bred in Barrow-in-Furness, Dave Myers' versatile skills have taken him to some unusual places. He worked in a steelworks as a student, to finance his studies in Fine Arts, and later joined the BBC as a make-up artist, specialising in prosthetics.
Si King hails from North East England and is a big, blond bearded biker with an infectious laugh. He worked for many years as an Assistant Director and Locations Manager for film and television, including the Harry Potter films.
Si and Dave met on the set of a TV drama in 1995 and have been cooking and riding together ever since. They have now written over 20 cookbooks, including Chicken & Egg, Mums Know Best, Bakeation, Meat Feasts and 12 Days of Christmas. In 2012, the boys shed more than six stone between them on The Hairy Dieters: How to Love Food and Love Weight. They have also created a range of low-fat sauces (available in Asda and Ocado), launched an online subscription-based weight-loss club, The Hairy Bikers' Diet Club, and published an acclaimed autobiography, Blood, Sweat and Tyres.
