Fiction, Modern & contemporary fiction (post c 1945), Adventure, Fantasy

The stunning conclusion to the story begun in global bestseller Markus Heitz's Return of the Dwarves Book 1!

The hero Tungdil Goldhand vanished years ago. Until the gem-carver Goimron discovers Tungdil's diary . . . and finds that the last entries are terrifyingly recent.

Goimron gathers a small band of trusted companions, and they set off to find Tungdil and save Girdlegard from the mysterious Albae.

But the story's only half-over. Brabandor's on the trail of something extraordinary; Rodana is trying to change her fate, and Klaey remains an unknown quantity: his lust for power is unparalleled, and he'll do anything to get it. And the most worrying question of all . . . will their quest, change Goimron himself?

The epic conclusion to the story begun in The Return of the Dwarves Book 1, filled with action, adventure, and a discovery that might change life in Girdlegard for everyone . . . forever.

Praise for The Return of the Dwarves Book 2

  • Traces of true magic, wit and secrets untold . . . you will enjoy the story - Fantasy Book Review on The Dwarves series

  • A gripping read with some very memorable characters . . . this will definitely satisfy - Worlds in Ink on The Dwarves series

  • The Dwarves is a well-constructed classic fantasy story that I greatly enjoyed - Speculative Book Review

  • I was turning pages and eagerly awaiting the next plot twist. I totally recommend this book - Boom Tron on The War of the Dwarves

  • The prose is sharp, the action sequences bloody and all in this has been a real joy to read . . . pure joy from start to finish and definitely one I'd recommend to other fantasy fans - Falcate Times on The Fate of the Dwarves

  • To pithily, if a little inaccurately sum it up, The Dwarves is just like Tolkien's The Hobbit, if the Hobbit grew up, started wearing a hoody and drinking on street corners. Or perhaps, Tolkien with a dash of Gemmell and a sprinkling of George R.R. Martin - Malazan Empire on The Dwarves

Markus Heitz

Markus Heitz trained to be a teacher after studying history and German literature, then going on to an MA in History. He spent several years as a journalist, writing in his free time, before the runaway success of The Dwarves allowed him to give up the day job. His debut epic fantasy novel, Schatten A ber Ulldart (Shadows over Ulldart) was the first of many of his books to win the Deutscher Phantastik Preis (Germany's premier literary award for fantasy) in 2003. Since then he has frequently topped the bestseller charts, and his Number One bestselling Dwarves and Aelfar series have earned him a place among Germany's most successful fantasy authors. The DOORS series, where each book follows the adventurers as they choose a different door, have earned him a whole new audience as he plays with fantasy, thriller and mystery tropes to keep the reader always interested. He currently lives in Saarland, in Germany.
